In art therapy, the creative process (drawing, writing, painting, sculpting, collage, etc) is used to help support overall mental health, wellness, and personal growth. We will utilize the act of making art as a tool to:
cope with life’s stressors and to help regulate our feelings.
reduce cortisol levels (stress hormones) and allow our brain to enter a meditative state.
aid in the expression of emotions, events, and experiences that we do not yet have the words to describe.
promote insight, self-awareness, and develop self-compassion (learn how to overcome that inner critic).
improve our problem solving ability.
practice going with the flow.
The process of making
art is more important
than the finished piece.
As we learn to embrace “happy accidents” we discover that our art can be perfectly imperfect! That’s what makes it beautiful and our own.
